Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) has reintroduced a resolution prohibiting the display of foreign flags on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Rep. Cammack had introduced the resolution in April after the passage of a $95 billion aid package to Ukraine and Israel, which House Democrats celebrated by waving small Ukrainian flags on the floor.
The gesture drew condemnation from Republicans, including Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), who supposedly shouted, "Put the damn flags away!"
Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) called the Democrats "out of touch" and added, "Members of Congress should never wave the flag of another nation on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives."
Similarly, Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) said he was "disgusted" by the flags and called it "a sad day in America when people proudly fly the flag of a foreign nation in our United States Chamber."
As a result, with President-elect Donald Trump returning to the White House, Rep. Cammack has reintroduced the resolution, which prohibits the display of foreign flags in the House of Representatives save as lapel pins or as part of an exhibit during speeches or debates.
In her press release, the Florida Congresswoman said, "On the floor of the United States House of Representatives, there should only be one flag on display: ours."
Additionally, Cammack emphasized how "We make serious decisions on behalf of the American people and their taxpayer dollars on the House floor. This business should be carried out beneath no other banner than our stars and stripes to remind us of who we represent and why this nation is the greatest in the history of the world."
President-elect Trump has promised to end the Russia-Ukraine war upon assuming office, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin seemed to have approved of.
"He's very strong and unpredictable, and I would really like to see President Trump's unpredictability apply to Russia," Zelensky told Ukrainian media.
Similarly, Putin said on Russian state TV, "Soon, those Ukrainians who want to fight will run out; in my opinion, soon there will be no one left who wants to fight. We are ready, but the other side needs to be ready for both negotiations and compromises."
