WASHINGTON— After being tapped by President-elect Donald Trump to be the next Secretary of State, Senator Marco Rubio may have a hard time being confirmed by the U.S. Senate if Texas Senator Ted Cruz decides to withhold his support.

Do Senators Cruz and Rubio have a beef?

The issue may lie with Sen. Rubio’s refusal to accept Sen. Cruz’s challenge to play him in a pick-up basketball game.

“I may have to tell him that if he wants my vote for confirmation, he needs to show up and play some hoops,” said a joking Sen. Cruz to The Floridian. “How can we trust him as Secretary of State to stand up to Putin if he is scared to face my jump shot?”

We sat down with Rubio several months back to ask him about the Cruz challenge, where Rubio said that he would not take up Cruz’s basketball challenge because was afraid to tear his Achilles Tendon.

Cruz was not buying Rubio’s Achilles concern, saying that it was a “lame-ass excuse.”

Is Rubio afraid to go mano-a-mano with Cruz on the basketball court?

Whether he decides to play Cruz or not, the trash-talking Rubio believes he is a better athlete than Cruz.
