Committee on House Administration's Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) released a report on the events surrounding January 6, 2021 and on the politicization of the January 6th Select Committee, alledging that Liz Cheney “colluded” with January 6 committee witness Cassidy Hutchinson without Hutchinson’s attorney’s knowledge.

Cheney’s support for, and leading role in, the January 6th committee has resulted in her ostracization from the Republican party.

The report claims “Liz Cheney should be investigated for potential criminal witness tampering based on the new information about her communication” with Hutchinson.

Hutchinson was the ‘star witness’ of the January 6 committee.

Last October, reports emerged demonstrating she had knowingly provided false testimony to the committee.

Conservatives have long derided investigations into the January 6th riots as politicized and leveraged to criticize Republicans and President-elect Donald Trump

President Trump claimed the report could mark the beginning of criminal prosecutions into Cheney.

“Liz Cheney could be in a lot of trouble based on the evidence obtained by the subcommittee, which states that “numerous federal laws were likely broken by Liz Cheney, and these violations should be investigated by the FBI,” said Trump

Cheney has opposed Trump’s candidacy since he first entered politics and has been one of his fiercest conservative critics.

During the 2024 presidential campaign, Cheney openly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as she claimed Trump is “a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant.”

While Trump has previously promised he will not seek retribution towards his opponents when he regains presidential authority, the latest report could be grounds for his Department of Justice or FBI to investigate Cheney.
