In one of his last acts as President, Joe Biden (D) pardoned his son, Hunter, much to the outrage of Republicans, including Representative Cory Mills (R-FL), who discussed the pardoning in a recent appearance on Fox and Friends First, suggesting Biden's previous insistence he would not pardon Hunter was because "He thought that his influence as President of the United States could influence the outcome of the jury."
Rep. Mills referred to the conviction of Hunter for tax evasion and federal gun charges earlier this year, which he suggested was "a continuation of a weaponization [of government]," making additional references to the multiple legal battles faced by President-elect Donald Trump and his family throughout 2024.
"And we talk about putting the finger on the scales of justice, but what has really happened is that under this administration, they have tossed out the scales of justice and gotten rid of our constitutional republic and the rule of law for this idea of weaponization of federal government, an effort to try and politicize or go after your opponents. And so I think that he thought the outcome [of Hunter's conviction] would be different. That is why he is continuing to go ahead and push forward in this two-tiered justice system," Rep. Mills continued.
Host Sean Duffy noted that Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) has called for Hunter to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee, asking the Florida Congressman what else Congress can do to hold the Bidens accountable for their alleged influence peddling in light of the pardoning.
Mills reminded Duffy of the information uncovered by the House Judiciary's investigation under Representatives Jim Jordan (R-OH) and James Comer (R-KY), such as financial transactions and testimony from figures such as Hunter's former business associate Tony Bobulinski.
"So I think that while [Biden] might pardon Hunter when it comes to the tax violations or the federal firearm license application lies, there should be a continuation investigation on Hunter for all of the things that were going on because this is one of the most corrupt families that we have ever seen in the White House," Mills concluded.
