New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) stunned Democrats this week after he shared a willingness to work with the Trump Administration to crack down on deportations. During a press conference, he discussed crimes being perpetrated by illegal immigrants in NYC, admitting that he doesn't fear being "cancelled" for wanting to keep New Yorkers safe.
In the press conference, Mayor Adams shared that NYC remains open to immigrants, emphasizing that the city is working on helping migrants apply for Temporary Protected Status and work authorization as well as other services. However, the mayor also noted that illegal immigrants have committed crimes in the city, and those crimes need to be addressed.
While New Yorkers enjoy the holidays in the greatest city in the world, our administration continues to be hard at work making this city even more enjoyable for all.

"Those who are here committing crimes, robberies, shooting at police officers, raping innocent people, have been a harm to our country, and I would love to sit down with the border czar and hear his thoughts on how we're going to address those who are harming our citizens," Mayor Adams expressed.
The Mayor also invoked Secretary Hillary Clinton (D) and President Barack Obama (D), arguing that people should research how each political figure feels about the situation at hand. For the mayor, Secretary Clinton and President Obama would agree that the crimes have to be addressed.
"Google what they said about those who commit crimes in our city," the mayor said. "They said those who commit crimes need to get out right away. That was their position, so this is not a new position."
President Trump and Homan are viewed as figures who have a hardline stance on immigration, which has drawn scrutiny from Democrats, but Mayor Adams suggested that handling deportations in New York would be a sensible idea.
"In the era of cancel culture, no one's afraid to be honest about the truth," Mayor Adams expressed. "Well, cancel me because I'm going to protect the people of this city, and if you come into this country and this city and think you're going to harm innocent New Yorkers and innocent migrants and asylum seekers, this is not the mayor you want to be in the city under," he added.
