Just as Rep. Matt Gaetz (R) removed his nomination for Attorney General, President-elect Donald Trump nominated former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to head and overhaul the Department of Justice.
President-elect Trump announced on Truth Social that Bondi would be "Making America Safe Again."
"For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans — Not anymore," Trump said on Truth Social. "Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting Crime, and Making America Safe Again," stated President-elect Trump.
Bondi, who is very close to Ivanka Trump and other close advisors of the former President, including Susie Wiles, is as MAGA as they come and recently headed up the America First Legal group founded by several of Trump's close supporters and advisors.
In January 2020, Bondi testified before the U.S. Senate and argued against the actions of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden over their dealings with Burisma Holdings in Ukraine. Just as Bondi began to speak, ABC, CBS, and NBC cut away to commercials and did not return to Bondi's speech.
Bondi was once considered a frontrunner in the 2018 Republican gubernatorial primary race, but she never took the plunge and instead joined the Ballard Partners lobbying firm in Washington, D.C.
