South Florida election results: Republicans dominate Miami-Dade County, win sheriff's race

MIAMI—South Florida Republicans had a successful election night, with several regional victories, including House Districts 91, 94, 106, 113, and 115.

The down-ballot races were helped by a strong showing from Republican presidential candidate  Donald Trump, who was leading in Miami-Dade County by 12 points with over 95% reporting.

Miami-Dade County voters also went to the polls to elect their first sheriff in nearly 60 years in Democratic candidate James Reyes and Republican candidate Rosie Cordero-Stutz. In 2018, Florida voters restored the elected sheriff position after passing Amendment 10.
