Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) appeared on Fox News to share his vision for the Senate Majority Leader position should he be picked by his colleagues later this week. The Republican Party won the majority in the Senate on Election Day, providing Senators Scott, John Cornyn (R-TX), and John Thune (R-SD) with more motivation to obtain party leadership in the upper chamber.

Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has served as the leader of the Senate Republican Conference since 2007. He announced his intention to step down in late February.

Sen. Scott reaffirmed that he would seek the position of majority leader, ensuring that he would be the “change” candidate within the party leadership.

"Here's what I bring to the table: I clearly believe in the Trump agenda, number one. I'm a business guy that had success doing exactly what we need to do in the Senate. We need to have a plan. We need to work a plan. We need to have a team. We need to measure ourselves," said Sen. Scott. "If we want to get all the nominees done, we've got to figure out plan to get it done if get it done. If we want to get a balanced budget, we got to start today to get a balanced budget. If we want to get the border secure, if we want to get whatever policies we have to get through through Congress, we have to have a plan, just like what you do in business."

He added that as a businessman, there was a standard operating procedure for every action that his company ran.

"I ran a company with 280 5000 employees. We had a written plan for everything to get it done. My colleagues have told me they want change. They want to be treated as equal, they want to be part of the team they want to have an agenda," said Sen. Scott.

Finally, the Florida senator added that he is in good standing with the lower chamber, and that is party of the reason he feels good about his chances to take on the leadership role in the Senate.

"They want to have a great relationship with the house they know I have a great relationship with Speaker Mike Johnson, so I'm very optimistic that I'm going to win because I'm representing Trump's agenda and what my colleagues want here," concluded Scott.

Senate Republicans are set to vote on who will lead their conference in a secret ballot later this week.
