Rubio Talks Potential Cabinet Position in Trump Administration

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) appeared on “Hannity” on Wednesday to discuss President-elect Donald Trump’s (R) victory and the balance of power in the upper chamber. The former president has created a diverse coalition as he increased his voter share with nearly every demographic in the nation, especially Latinos. When asked about potentially joining the Trump administration, Sen. Rubio was a bit hesitant to provide a concrete answer.

"Well, look, first of all, I am in this long-term for the country, and it's not up to me to make those decisions, but I have a job to do now," said Sen. Rubio. "I'm in the Senate, I have an opportunity to serve there, and he's going to need people in the Senate to help carry that agenda because [it's] one thing is to win an election, but then you got to do something with it. There's a mandate here. They're telling us to go up there and fix these things. And we have to do that. If we don't do that, then all this is for naught."

The Florida senator continued by saying he's content with serving in the upper chamber if that is where Trump believes he is best fit. Rubio also stated that he's open to serving "in some other capacity" within the administration.

"So, he has to have people in the Senate to help. And maybe that's the place for me to serve. Maybe there's some other capacity, I really don't know, because we just came from that victory. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet," said Sen. Rubio. "And but look, Donald Trump has always made great choices. Look how he did with Vice President [JD Vance]; look how he's done with the people in his campaign. I mean, he put together a tremendous campaign; they all deserve a lot of credit, and he picked every single one of these people that worked for him, so he'll have great choices."

Finally, the Florida senator declared that the GOP bench is deep and that there are "great people to pick from" regarding the Trump administration.

"He got great people to pick from, and he needs good people in the Senate and in the House. And you know, I'm as excited as I've ever been in the Senate," Rubio concluded.

While the results are not total and complete, it appears President-elect Trump will win the popular vote and possibly 312 electoral votes, with the results of Arizona and Nevada pending.
