Senator Rick Scott
WASHINGTON—Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) has told The Floridian that he supports the disbanding of the Department of Education, adding that there wasn’t a need for this federal education bureaucracy.
“It should be disbanded. We don’t need a federal Department of Education,” said Sen. Scott.
Sen. Scott’s position in support of scrapping the Education Department comes on the heals President-elect Donald Trump announcing his intention to shutter the department early in his second term in office
“One thing I will be doing very early in the administration is closing down the Department of Education in Washington, D.C., and sending all education, education work, and needs, back to the states. We want them to run the education of our children because they’ll do a much better job at it,” said President-elect Donald Trump in a post-campaign video.
