Tech billionaire Elon Musk allegedly joined President-elect Donald Trump on a recent call with Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelesnky, signifying his potential influential role in a future Trump administration.
According to Axios, Musk and President Trump spoke to President Zelensky during Wednesday, where Zelensky congratulated Trump on his electoral victory while Trump reassured Zelensky of the US’ continued support for Ukraine.
During the call, Musk reportedly committed to maintaining Starlink satellite support for Ukraine’s military.
Ukraine’s military has been relying on Musk’s Starlink internet services to aid them as they combat Russian forces.
Musk, who actively campaigned for Trump, was promised a role within the Trump administration focused on ‘deregulation.’
Trump claimed he would appoint Musk, at his request, to a Federal Commission on government efficiency and regulation, which would produce deregulation and pro-business policy suggestions.
Such promise could soon be fulfilled as Trump has begun selecting his cabinet.
Earlier this week, Trump’s first cabinet position was given to Susan Wiles, who will serve as the first female chief of staff in history.
Wiles, who managed Trump’s campaign, has had a successful track record helping Republican candidates win their respective races.
In 2010, she helped US Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) win his Florida gubernatorial race.
Wiles also led Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ own first gubernatorial race.
The Floridian's Javier Manjarres, who has known Wiles for over a decade, praised her selection, saying that President Trump was "fortunate to have such a loyal friend by his side."
"Before anything, Susie is the President's friend. The President has been fortunate to have such loyal friend by his side. Susie has been a loyal friend to many of us and is someone who is not looking to climb the political ladder, but rather someone who is truly invested in his success," Manjarres said.
