With Rep. Michael Waltz (R) leaving the U.S. Congress to become President Donald Trump's National Security Advisor, Gov. Ron DeSantis is tasked with setting a special election to replace Rep. Waltz and the frontrunner to replace him is State Senator-elect Randy Fine (R), aka "The Hebrew Hammer."
Rep. Fine is interested in the job and is touting his pro-Israel, anti-antisemitism bona fides to "lead that charge."
There is no one. NO ONE, that is more pro-Israel than Rep. Fine. He is like a Jewish Superman when it comes to fighting antisemitism.
"President Trump has made clear, even as recently as last night, that the fight to protect America's Jews is a top priority. Given my success passing more antisemitism bills than anyone in America, I'd be honored to lead that charge," said Rep. Fine in a statement to The Floridian.
Fine recently signaled that he was interested in the position, claiming to be "a strong and outspoken supporter of President Trump and his agenda."
Not only is he a strong supporter of Trump, he butted heads with Gov. DeSantis and his followers after pulling his endorsement and then backing Trump during the 2024 Republican presidential primary election.
Fine has also been the tip of the spear combatting antisemitism, and has said that he would blunt the radical antisemitism resonating from House Democrats, namely members of "The Squad."
Other Florida Republican lawmakers are are interested in the job, or are still mulling over the idea of running for Congress are Senator Travis Hutson and Rep. Stan McClain.
State Senator Tom Leek quickly took his name out of contention for the congressional seat shortly after Waltz was appointed.
“Since it was announced that my friend Congressman Mike Waltz was going to be nominated to serve as NSA Director, I have been honored to be asked if I would consider running for his congressional seat in a Special Election. I am very much looking forward to beginning my service in the Florida State Senate next week, and will not be seeking election to Congress,” Rep. Leek said.
Gov. DeSantis is expected to announce the date of the special election to replace Reps. Waltz and Matt Gaetz in the coming weeks.
One congressman, who asked that we not mention his or her name in this story, says that it would "glorious" and "epic" to see Fine take on the likes of Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar on the floor of the House of Representatives.
We have also learned that President Trump could weigh in support of Fine.
