At the time of this writing, President Donald Trump (R) has gained Michigan, bringing his electoral votes to 292. Showing increased support in blue states, and carrying the "blue wall" that led him to victory in 2016, Republicans are celebrating President Trump's victory. Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R), a staunch supporter of the president, is calling President Trump's win the "greatest political comeback."

To say that Republicans won big on Election Night is an understatement. President Trump decisively won the election, Republicans took control of the Senate, the House is poised for Republican control, and President Trump is currently leading in the popular vote. A Republican has not won the popular vote in 20 years.

Rep. Donalds, who himself won a reelection bid Tuesday night by a decisive lead, is not surprised that Republicans came out strong at the end of Election Night. During an interview on The Today Show, the Florida congressman attributed the Republican wins to a shift that the country is experiencing.

“We are seeing a political realignment here in Florida and throughout the United States,” Rep. Donalds expressed. Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) shared a similar sentiment when assessing the election results. Instead, the Florida senator called it a national "realization."

"I think when the numbers are all shaken out, half of the Hispanic voters in our country voted for Donald Trump," Rep. Donalds explained, noting that President Trump also picked up " easily close to 20% of Black voters." The Florida congressman also shared that the president's supporters include "young voters, independents, working families, throughout our entire country."

Heading into the election, polls showed a race that was neck-and-neck, but President Trump broke through the "blue wall" and eliminating any chance of Vice President Kamala Harris (D) making it to the White House.

“What we have witnessed is the greatest political comeback in American history,” Rep. Donalds said of the election.
