Former U.S. Representative and Senate hopeful Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-FL) has released a new advertisement against her opponent, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), depicting him as a giant snake. In the ad, Sen. Scott’s head is placed on top of the giant snake as he slithers out of medical offices and toward the Capitol Building.

Less than thirty days before the general election, former Rep. Mucarsel-Powell has some ground to cover to unseat the incumbent in November. The 30-second advertisement can be seen below:

“Florida’s biggest snake isn’t in the Everglades. He’s in the Senate: Rick Scott,” the ad begins. “He stole money from seniors in the biggest Medicare fraud ever.” This refers to his time as the leader of Columbia/HCA, who was tagged with the “largest Medicare fraud fine in U.S. History” of $1.7 billion.

While the ad slot over covers 30 seconds, it skips over Sen. Scott’s time as Florida Governor and goes straight into his tenure as a senator.

“Then Scott slid into the Senate, where he wrote the plan to end social security, raise your taxes, and ban abortion,” said the former congresswoman. “Rick Scott’s a slippery politician who’s been ripping you off. I’m Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, and I approve this message because your family is getting squeezed and it’s time for a senator with a spine.”

While the ad might be a little unsettling with Scott’s head on top of a CGI snake, it certainly is memorable.

However, Scott holds a 51-44% (5% undecided) lead over former Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-FL) in AIF’s Q4 Statewide General Election Poll.

But, the leads for the Republican candidate has dwindled a small amount since the AIF Q3 Poll was released a couple of months ago. In early August, Sen. Scott maintained a 10-point lead (52-42%) over Mucarsel-Powell.

These small changes could be linked to natural fluctuation in polling due to the diversity of respondents. However, it could be due to a legitimate change in the minds of the electorate, and support for Harris and Mucarsel-Powell is rising.

In the latest polling averages from RealClearPolitics, Scott holds a six-point (49-43%) lead over his challenger.

In addition, it is important to note that Mucarsel-Powell appears to be solely be running a negative campaign against Scott and not on actual issues that are affected Americans. Mucarsel-Powell has been running on a pro-Abortion platform.
