Senators Rick Scott (R-FL), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Tom Cotton (R-AR) appeared on Fox News's “The Story with Martha MacCallum” to discuss the latest in foreign affairs and their party’s Senate races. The trio sat in front of a crowd for a “get out the vote” rally in Boca Raton, Florida, as Sen. Scott is facing a challenge for his seat from former Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-FL). Some of the latest polling shows that the gap between the two is tightening.
MacCallum began the segment by asking about the illegally leaked classified documents that show Israel is planning to launch a counter-attack against Iran. She asked for Sen. Rubio’s thoughts on the matter.
“Well, it's both a federal crime to leak that information, it's also an act of treason. It's aiding an enemy in the United States, a government in Iran that basically says ‘Death to America, Death to Israel’ every week. It's their slogan,” said Sen. Rubio. “So, one of the important reasons we need to have a majority is that if we are in the majority, I guarantee you will be investigating not just that but other strategic leaks that have been designed to undermine American foreign policy and, in many cases to help avowed enemies in the United States. That needs to stop, that needs to end. We need to know who did this, and they need to be punished.”
Furthermore, Sen. Scott spoke on the issue as well and immediately praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his efforts throughout this war in the Middle East.
“Well, first off, I think we all have to respect and admire what Netanyahu has done. He hasn't listened to Biden, he hasn’t listened to Harris, and he's defended his country,” said Sen. Scott. “So, we have to respect what he's done, and we've got to do everything we can to help him. And I agree with my colleagues, whoever did this has to be held accountable, and when we win the majority in the Senate when Donald Trump is the president, Israel will be supported, and we will not ever allow this to happen again.”
Finally, Sens. Rubio and Scott were asked about Scott’s attempt to win reelection. The former described him as the “hardest working person” he knows in the upper chamber, and Sen. Scott shared an optimistic prediction as the election draws nearer.
“Well, first of all, this is the hardest-working person I know in the Senate. I can tell you that. If our voters work as hard for him as he works for them, he’s going to win; he’s going to win big,” said Rubio.
Sen. Scott concluded, “We’re going to have a big win because people are coming out to vote because they know this is the most important election of our lifetime. Donald Trump will be our next president; we’ll have a big majority in the Senate and in the House.”
Election Day takes place on Nov. 5.
