Senator Rick Scott’s (R-FL) campaign has released an advertisement in response to his opponent, former Representative Debbie Murcarsel-Powell (D-FL), who produced an ad against him. The Florida senator’s campaign described her ad as “completely delusional,” and the “only fact she gets right is her name.”
Moreover, the Scott campaign says that former Rep. Mucarsel-Powell continues to spread falsehoods about his efforts to retain his seat in the upper chamber.
“While Debbie continues to lie about Rick Scott’s record, the evidence is clear about how wrong she is. It’s sad to see a silly socialist get so desperate that she’s willing to lie to politicize a natural disaster that killed Floridians,” says the Scott campaign.
Furthermore, the Scott campaign boasted that he’s been endorsed by over 50 Florida sheriffs throughout his attempt to return to Capitol Hill.
“Senator Rick Scott has been endorsed by 60 Florida Sheriffs and nearly every law enforcement association in Florida thanks to his responsiveness to their communities, especially during natural disasters,” said the Scott campaign. “To date, the former Congresswoman hasn’t been endorsed by anyone from Florida’s law enforcement community.”
Recently, Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rick Scott sent a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Deanne Criswell requesting that affected local governments receive timely reimbursements from past hurricanes – including Helene and Debby. According to Sens. Rubio and Scott, some local governments are experiencing budget shortfalls, which could affect current and future disaster recovery efforts. An expedited reimbursement to these local governments could go a long way, according to the senators.
However, this request from Sens. Rubio and Scott comes at a time in which the Biden-Harris administration has been called out for misusing FEMA’s resources on behalf of illegal immigrants instead of American citizens.
For instance, after Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas recently announced that FEMA does not have the necessary funds to provide aid throughout hurricane season, AG Moody criticized the Biden-Harris administration, going as far as to accuse them of “laundering” taxpayer money for migrants as hundreds of millions of FEMA dollars have been used for migrant programs.
