Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan recently appeared on Times Radio in London, and her comments on the radio appearance are receiving backlash. During the interview, Mayor Deegan chided President Donald Trump's (R) immigration policy, saying it would create "concentration camps" for illegal immigrants. Responding to the mayor's assessment, Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters derided her comments, backing President Trump's immigration policy.

In speaking about President Trump's immigration policy, Mayor Deegan shared comments that the Trump campaign called "horrendously irresponsible." Mayor Deegan expressed that "to put people in what would really amount to a concentration camp type situation to round them out of the country doesn't seem to me to be a very American thing to do."

Not surprisingly, supporters of President Trump have come out against the mayor's comments, and Sheriff Waters has now shared his response to the mayor's controversial comments.

In a statement released on social media, Sheriff Waters called the mayor's comments "shocking and reckless." The Jacksonville sheriff added that "it is disappointing to see our Mayor equate a commonsense immigration policy with one of the most horrific atrocities of the 20th century."

Sheriff Waters then drew a distinction between President Trump's immigration policy and Vice President Kamala Harris' (D) handling of the border.

"Here are the facts: Kamala Harris, who Deegan supports, has allowed a wide-open border and millions of illegal crossings," the sheriff argued. "Along with a surge of violent criminals, fentanyl has poured into our country and poisoned our communities," he added.

In contrast, Sheriff Waters believes that President Trump's immigration policy would be beneficial for the country, expressing that "only President Donald J. Trump can secure our border and restore safety, security, and economic prosperity to the American people."

Under Vice President Harris, the sheriff warns that "officers have seized nearly 15 kilograms of fentanyl, enough to kill over 7 Million Americans."

"Something must be done."
