Vice President Kamala Harris is questioning former President Donald Trump’s mental capacity to serve as president.
President Harris recently released her medical records and challenged President Trump to do the same.
“Donald Trump refuses to release his medical records, and he is unwilling to meet for a second debate,” said Harris. “Why does his staff want him to hide away? Are they afraid that people will see that he is too weak and unstable to lead America?”
Harris doubled down on her comments during a campaign rally in North Carolina, claiming Trump “was not being transparent with voters” by not publishing his medical records.
Trump was quick to fire back, requesting Harris submit herself to a cognitive and stamina test.
“I believe it is very important that Kamala Harris pass a test on Cognitive Stamina and Agility. Her actions have led many to believe that there could be something very wrong with her,” said Trump.
Trump further compared Harris’ mental capacity to President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.
Harris “is slow and lethargic in answering even the easiest of questions. We just went through almost four years of that, we shouldn’t have to do it again,” concluded Trump.
The mental capacity row is the latest Harris-Walz campaign effort to undermine voter confidence in Trump following the latter’s recent rise in the polls.
A recent Wall Street Journal (WSJ) poll, for example, found Trump had equal or greater voter support than Harris in crucial swing states.
Trump supporters and Republican lawmakers have publicly defended Trump’s mental capacity and rejected Harris’ comments.
Speaker of the House Michael Johnson (R-LA) counterattacked Harris’ campaign, asserting “Kamala Harris issued her medical records as a diversion because she’s desperate, because she’s sinking in the polls.”
Speaker Johnson continued, asserting there is no need for Trump’s medical records release, as he has already done so in the past and continues to demonstrate his health by continuously hosting energetic rallies.
