Donalds Responds to Governor Walz's Senate Border Bill Support

Minnesota Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz (D) appeared on Fox News this week, slamming those who've derided the Senate border bill. Governor Walz argued that the bill set out to fix what President Donald Trump (R) wasn't able to fix during his time in the White House. Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R), who opposes the bill, has responded to the governor's comments.

In his interview with the Fox News Sunday show, Governor Walz reiterated that he and Vice President Kamala Harris (D) support the Senate Border Bill, which he suggested goes in line with Vice President Harris' border policies.

"Her border policies are the most strongest, fairest we've seen," he shared.

Noting that the bill had the support of "James Langford in Oklahoma, the Border Patrol agents, the Wall Street Journal, the Chamber of Commerce," Governor Walz argued that nothing can be done without action from Congress. "You have to have Congress to authorize 1,500 new border agents, you have to have Congress to authorize DOJ to speed adjudication on these asylum claims. Those are things that would actually work," the governor explained.

In contrast, lawmakers on the other side of the aisle argue that the Senate Border Bill would be damaging to the country.

Rep. Donalds, who's vocally opposed the bill, took to social media to comment on the governor's comments on Fox News. The Florida Republican simply noted several reasons why he opposes the bill, sharing that it would codify "catch & release," fund sanctuary cities, doesn't provide funding for a border wall, and it would allocate $60 billion in funding Ukraine among other reasons.

The Senate border bill, often referred to as the "Chuck Schumer border bill," by Republicans, has been heavily criticized by conservatives. Last month, Rep. Donalds took part in a House Oversight & Accountability Committee hearing, sharing his disapproval of the bill.
