DeSantis Official Compiles List of who Doesn't Support Amendment 3 Days Before Election

After Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis rounded out five campaign events this week opposing a new measure legalizing weed, one of the Governor's top staffers has taken to social media to create and laud a list of who is voting "no" on the controversial, Trump-endorsed measure.

While the Governor has eviscerated the weed measure, called Amendment 3, for months, he and his team are starting to buckle down and ramp up attacks with ten days left before the election to sink its support. Christina Pushaw, the governor's senior analyst and former rapid response director during Gov. DeSantis' failed presidential bid, posted on X a "mega-thread" praising certain Florida officials voting no on Amendment 3.

The list names nine department heads, the Republican Party of Florida, three congressional representatives, three state representatives, two state senators, and three county sheriffs, among others, praising them for voting against an allegedly "vague" amendment that would "make Florida California," buy into "corporate greed", lead to "health risks" and create a "monopoly" for the company behind the measure, Trulieve.

"Changing the constitution cannot be taken lightly. As Floridians, we have a duty to make informed decisions about proposed amendments on our ballots," Pushaw posted on X Friday morning. She praised the DeSantises, Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, and Attorney General Ashley Moody for speaking out against the "deceptive" and "vague" measure.

"Drugs diminish our ability to be all that we can be, to be representations of God's love," said Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo.

"As a physician, I oppose legalizing recreational marijuana. There’s overwhelming medical evidence that marijuana alters brain development and function of kids - and even young adults," Congressman Neal Dunn, a doctor, said. "Amendment 3 would put Floridians at increased risk of developing serious health conditions and will inevitably lead to more usage among kids."

Notably, the thread leaves out two other Amendment 3 opponents: state Rep. Randy Fine, who has clashed with the DeSantis communications team over alleged antisemitism, and Sen. Rick Scott, who endorsed Trump over DeSantis in the Republican presidential primary.

If passed by at least 60% of voters on Nov. 5, Amendment 3 would legalize recreational marijuana for adults 21 and over. Backed by the Florida Democratic Party, state Sen. Joe Gruters became the first Republican lawmaker to defect to the Democrats' side over Amendment 3, drawing the ire of the DeSantis communications team who accused him of being paid off by the marijuana industry.

Former President Donald Trump, a Florida resident, became the next Republican supporter of Amendment 3, placing him once again in direct opposition to DeSantis. After him, came the Florida Young Republicans.

Pushaw's social media push comes after the Florida Governor and First Lady hosted five campaign events between the two of them this week—the first week of early voting in most counties—advocating against the measure, warning against alleged health risks and supposed legal loopholes.
