Mills Suggests Trump Hire Private Security After 2nd Assassination Attempt

Share

America is still reeling from the second attempt on former President Donald Trump's life on Sunday in West Palm Beach, Florida. While discussing the unfolding events during an appearance on Fox News's Jesse Watters Primetime, Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) suggested Trump hire a private security detail "until the Secret Service can actually get answers and do the job."

Host Jesse Watters began the discussion by noting the media's reaction to the shooting, calling it "defensive," which Rep. Mills agreed with, as many Republicans have said the anti-Trump rhetoric of Democrats and left-leaning media figures played a role in radicalizing Ryan Routh and Thomas Crooks, the would-be assassin in the Butler, Pennsylvania shooting.

"The bottom line is, Jesse, why don't we go back to what Joe Biden said, where he said, 'We need to put Trump back in the bullseye?' Why don't we go to Kamala Harris, who was actually part of the Minnesota bail fund [and] who was encouraging the incitement of continual violations of criminality in Minnesota, which all just happens to be where [Tim] Walz is from?" Rep. Mills asked.

Additionally, the Florida Congressman noted that the security perimeter established by the Secret Service "was too small and too reduced," which allowed Crooks to shoot at Trump from within 150 yards and Routh within 500 yards.

Moreover, Rep. Mills added, reiterating a recent social media post, "The threat should basically amount to the resources and assets available, not the title you carry. There is arguably no one more threatened than President Trump, who has now had two assassination attempts against him. So why is the Secret Service denying the resources and assets when we know they have billions and billions of dollars that we have pervaded through Congress, and they are doing nothing with it?"

As a result, Mills suggested Trump hire a private security detail composed of "special operations guys out of the unit, out of SEAL Team Six and out of other [Special Operations Forces] to be able to do this on the internal ring until the Secret Service can actually get answers and do their job."
