Florida Conservatives Unhappy With Economy as Fed Reserve Prepares to Drop Rates

Share

Florida Republicans are condemning President Joe Biden’s handling of the economy following a poor jobs report for the month of August as inflation continues.

According to the report, unemployment has increased from 3.8% to 4.2% and employment growth was lower than last year’s average.

Jobs in the healthcare and construction industries grew while they declined in manufacturing.

Additionally, multiple job holders increased by nearly half a million, which the report assesses is a result of having reduced hours or inability to find permanent well-paying jobs.

Senators Rick Scott (R-FL) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) criticized President Biden’s economic policies following the report’s publication.

Senator Scott cited rising inflation and employment dearths to condemn Biden.

“Last month, the U.S. added the fewest number of private sector jobs since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office,” said Scott. “As someone that grew up poor and lived in public housing, I know what it’s like to feel like the deck is stacked against you and that’s exactly how too many Americans are feeling today because of the failed policies of Biden and Harris that are killing their chance at the American Dream.”

Senator Rubio focused on Biden policies’ impact on working-class males, claiming the latter are being disproportionately impacted by a dwindling economy.

“Forgotten and abandoned. It’s a Great Depression for working-age men under the Biden-Harris Administration,” said Rubio as he published economic data on working-age men.

Biden has defended his economic policies, alleging his administration has produced “one of the most extraordinary periods of progress ever.”

Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve has announced plans to cut interest rates in an effort to propel a stagnant jobs market.

As presidential elections near, conservatives have also turned their attention towards Democrat Presidential Nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.

Vice President Harris has been criticized for supporting policies similar to those of the Biden administration.

Harris has also received conservative criticism for claiming she would introduce ‘the first ever federal ban on Price gouging on food.’

Such a policy would entail the US national government imposing price caps on food vendors.

Harris doubled down on her price control initiative through a recent advertisement, where she promises to “crack down on price gouging.”

President Donald Trump demeaned Harris’ initiative as “ Soviet style price controls.”

Meanwhile, Harris has also promised she would “cut red tape” for small businesses by facilitating tax filing and granting them tax relief.
