Donalds to VP Harris on Border: 'You Could've Fixed It, Sis'

Share

Republican U.S. Representatives from Florida, Byron Donalds (R-FL) and Texas, Chip Roy (R-TX) spoke to The Floridian regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’ (D) plans to visit the southern border for the first time since becoming the Democrat nominee for President.

Illegal immigration, once again, has become a major topic of discussion this election cycle and it will likely remain that way until election day.

Rep. Donalds questioned Vice President Harris and her campaign’s attempt to steer the immigration issue in her favor. For instance, Axios reported that she would pledge “hundreds of millions of dollars” toward the border wall if elected president.

“What’s she going to do? She’s going to put Trump’s policies back into place? That’ll work. I know that works. Anything else they’re going to try to do?” said Rep. Donalds. “Here’s what they’ll put out there and say we’re going to try to do it. Then, they’re going to have one of their outside groups go and sue. Then they’re going to be like, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re being held up by the courts and nothing will change.”

The Florida congressman continued by saying the vice president has had ample amount of time to address the border crisis but has failed to do so.

“That’s the Kamala Harris approach. That’s the campaign approach. She’s had three and a half years to fix it. I asked the same question: You could’ve fixed it, sis. Why didn’t you?” questioned Donalds.

Furthermore, Rep. Roy  believes that while a small minority of Republicans attempted to craft immigration legislation earlier this year, the bill was never truly a “bipartisan” solution. The measure was publicly shot down by former President Donald Trump (R).

“Democrats will always create noise about something. They take a crappy bill that never moved out of the Senate, that two Republicans kind of played footsie with, and they say it was the bipartisan solution to order,” said Rep. Roy. “They’re so full of shit, the bill would have codified their radical release agenda. And they know it, but they hide behind it, and the media just dotingly says, ‘Oh, look at this, the bipartisan bill.’”

When asked about Democrats pivoting to the immigration issue this election cycle, Rep. Roy responded, “Sure, the last thing they want to talk about is the border. I mean, like Kamala is running down to Arizona to what? Demonstrates she suddenly found the border on a map? It’s like, ‘Oh, wait, there is a border down there.’ So, we know they don’t want to talk about that … They don’t want to take the border so they’d rather talk about Project 2025.”

Vice President Kamala Harris will face off against former President Donald Trump (R) on Nov. 5.
