DeSantis' 2028 run for President may Have Just Kicked off

It is no secret that Governor Ron DeSantis wants to be President of the United States in 2028.

 

Heck, he ran for the job (ill-advised move) against arguably the most popular and controversial former President in U.S. history, President Donald Trump.

 

Gov. DeSantis and his actions have made him the state's all-time most successful and influential governor, and now that he has announced that he will be conducting a separate investigation into the second assassination attempt against President Trump, winning back the coveted MAGA community could be just around the corner.

 

"The State of Florida is conducting its own investigation into the second attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. It is not in the best interests of our state and nation to have the same federal agencies seeking to prosecute Trump leading this investigation," stated Gov. Ron DeSantis.

 

Does DeSantis really want to run for President in 2028?

 

You betcha!

 

Everything DeSantis does is calculated. It's all scripted in hopes of putting him in the best presidential light possible.

 

By promising to make the assassination investigation public, DeSantis will get the praise of the former president whom he previously infuriated during the 2024 Republican presidential primary election.x

 

Trump accused DeSantis of being disloyal and excoriated him on the campaign trail before crushing him in the Iowa Caucuses by 20 percentage points.

 

Donald Trump, Jr. has already praised DeSantis over the investigation. Is Papa Trump next?

 

DeSantis will have to pull out all the stops from now until he leaves office in 2027 if he has any shot of winning the 2028 Republican presidential nomination.

 

Once he leaves office, he will lose the gubernatorial bully pulpit he has used to raise tens of millions of dollars in campaign cash.

 

But does he want to run in 2028?

 

Of course.

 

One of DeSantis's closest allies and mega-donors recently told The Floridian that the sitting governor recently told him that he is eyeing, laser-focused on 2028.

 

DeSantis could be on the road to redemption with Trump and the base of the Republican Party, but is his potential 2028 campaign dead on arrival if he continues surrounding himself with the amateurish political clown show that has served as his mouthpiece before, during, and now after his failed 2024 campaign?

 

If DeSantis continues to surround himself with former executive office retreads who are perceived as toxic, 2028 will be a pipe dream for DeSantis.

 

Now, if his wife Casey DeSantis runs and becomes governor in 2026, all bets are off.

 

A third DeSantis gubernatorial term would allow Mrs. DeSantis to use her position as governor to raise money for her husband's presidential campaign.

 

Florida's lobby corps would welcome a third DeSantis term and would pour money into his coffers.

 

DeSantis has already said his wife was not interested in running for any political office, but is she?

 

If she does run for governor, this is the play, and the 2026 political wheels may already be in motion.
