House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) attached the SAVE Act, reinforcing that only American citizens can vote in elections, to a continuing resolution this week. Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) discussed the bill and the impact of illegal immigration on the United States in a recent appearance on Fox News's Faulkner Focus, mocking Democrats' arguments against the bill by asking, "What are they scared of?"
The discussion began with Rep. Cammack reiterating that "every town is a border town" thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration's policies and mentioning the Citizen Only Police (COP) Act she introduced last week, which would defund law enforcement agencies that recently authorized the hiring of illegal aliens.
"Another fine point to put on this that everyone should be upset about is that collectively, we spend $42 billion of taxpayer money every single year on people in this country who have been brought in through the Harris-Biden regime or have crossed the border illegally. As a comparison, homeless veterans only get $3 billion," Rep. Cammack fumed.
Host Harris Faulkner then moved to the main topic of the SAVE Act attached to the continuing resolution, which the Florida Congresswoman called "a common-sense measure."
"And I cannot stress this enough that it is really at the peril of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle that they do not adopt this. If I hear one more time [that] 'it is illegal that noncitizens vote in elections,' well, guess what? It is also illegal to cross the border, and yet they seem to have no problem with that, and they have allowed ten and a half million people into this country illegally. So, if they have no objection, then why not pass the bill? What are they scared of? And that is the message that we need to go out. If we are serious about election integrity, we have to pass the SAVE Act," Cammack continued.
Faulkner then asked why Democrats do not want to vote in favor of the bill, which Cammack explained as "the same thing that we have heard when we ask for photo ID in elections to verify that someone is who they say they are. [Democrats] say it is voter suppression. Now we all know that is nonsense, and again, the majority of Americans can see through all of the smoke and mirrors of all the messaging that comes through the left."
