The influential Americans for Prosperity Action Florida (AFP Action FL) has come out with a list of 2024 general election candidate endorsements. In what can only be described as a significant political move to influence the Republican-led state legislature, AFP continues to push the "Florida free" narrative set forward by Governor Ron DeSantis
“Florida’s primary results paired with what we hear at the doors shows our team just how imperative it is to stand behind principled leaders. This round of endorsements led to candidates who are aligned on keeping Florida free and a prosperous place to live. We’re ready to hit the ground running throughout the general to get these leaders in office,” stated State Director Skylar Zandar.
AFP has always played a significant role in election years, but in 2024 the group appears poised to push the envelope.
Meg Weinberger, who recently won her hotly contentious Republican primary race against Anthony Aguirre, is one of the endorsees.
Weinberger’s win was significant considering that she faced off against factions of the Tallahassee political swamp or political establishment.
Here is the list of candidates AFP is backing.
Endorsed Candidates
Chad Johnson (HD-22)
As a former county commissioner, Chad has the experience needed to lead House District 22 well. He has strong fiscal conservative values, demonstrating his commitment to providing tax relief and balancing the budget. He is also expected to be a voice for expanded education opportunities, supporting more career training and giving power to parents.
Bill Partington (HD-28)
With principled views on taxes, education, and health care, Bill Partington is the best choice for House District 28. Bill will bring his experience as mayor to the position, leaning on his background fighting tix increases and supporting parental rights in expanded education options.
State Rep. Kevin Steele (HD-55)
As a freshman, Rep. Steele has been instrumental in top issue areas from health care, independent contractor rights, to education and more. As a health care business owner, Rep. Steele understands the value of competition and choice in the market and will continue to be a voice for fiscal conservative policies and economic reforms.
State Rep. Adam Anderson (HD-57)
Notably, Rep. Anderson has sponsored bills to strengthen health care by allowing nonprofit agricultural organizations to provide coverage to members. He is a needed voice in office to expand telehealth and work towards better labor and regulatory laws.
State Rep. Linda Chaney (HD-61)
Rep. Chaney understands that onerous labor regulations prevent growth in Florida’s economy and has stood firmly in her convictions. She is the best choice for House District 61 and will continue to support foundational education growth in the state.
State Rep. Will Robinson (HD-71)
When re-elected, Rep. Robinson will continue to use his position to expand telehealth, broaden the scope of practice, and support Certificate of Need (CoN) repeal. He is also a policy champion for creating more choice in educational opportunities.
State Rep. Tiffany Esposito (HD-77)
Rep. Esposito is the leader House District 77 needs to drive economic reforms. She is passionate about occupational licensing improvements and her belief that regulations hold Floridians back and cause labor shortages will make her an impactful leader in office.
State Rep. Adam Botana (HD-80)
Rep. Botana is a proven leader on regulations and foundational education, sponsoring key legislation to limit advisory bodies while also standing up for parents with expanded education freedom. His position as Chief Floor Whip demonstrates his ability to gather support needed to make legislative change.
Meg Weinberger (HD-94)
Meg is the best choice for House District 94 as she is expected to support policies that put Florida's workforce first while promoting transparency and accountability. In office, Meg will work to lower taxes and decrease regulation to improve our economy. She is also a strong leader on improving parents' rights in their children's education.
State Rep. Juan Porras (HD-119)
