Waltz Blames Biden, Harris for Potential War Between Israel and Iran

Share

Iran is expected to retaliate after Israel successfully killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh last week, leading to fears of open war breaking out in the Middle East. Representative Mike Waltz (R-FL) laid escalating hostilities at the feet of the Biden-Harris Administration in a recent appearance on Fox News's America's Newsroom, calling their foreign policy "maddening."

"The Biden-Harris weak leadership, mismanagement, and frankly bad decision after bad decision has practically invited this war," said Rep. Waltz, noting that the release of American hostages still held by Hamas is becoming unattainable as Vice President Kamala Harris "lecturing [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu in his visit to the United States on the international stage. Then you have Biden leaking what was supposed to be a private call so that he can look tough to his base where he is blaming the Israelis for escalating and then saying, 'If you do it again, you are on your own.' Every time Iran, Russia, [or] China sees daylight between us and Israel, they are going to escalate further."

Near the end of July, during Netanyahu's visit to the United States, VP Harris expressed "serious concern" to the Israeli Prime Minister about their conduct fighting Hamas in Gaza, imploring a ceasefire deal. Similarly, President Biden supposedly scolded Netanyahu for the killing of Ismail Haniyeh at a time when a new round of negotiations was about to begin, claiming the strike would escalate the conflict.

However, Waltz countered, "Terrorist organizations care about two things: they care about power and staying alive to do their attacks again. Under Biden's deal, they would have gotten both. They would have stayed alive, and they would conduct future October Sevenths. If they start seeing their leadership getting taken out all over the world, even in Tehran, they are much more likely to come to a deal to survive, to live another day. This is just maddening how bad this White House has managed this situation, and neither are fit to be Commander-in-Chief."
