Florida’s State House District 20 is a very safe Republican-leaning seat in the state legislature. Businessman Judson Sapp and City of Welaka Mayor Jamie Watts are vying for the opportunity to legislate in Tallahassee.
Sapp, who ran for Congress and refers to himself as a “Trump Republican” and “An America First Conservative,” appears to be the clear frontrunner having garnered a slew of local endorsements and having raised the most donations to execute a winning campaign.
Sapp’s recent campaign ad checks off all the pro-Trump and “Family First” boxes, posting images of him with both President Donald Trump and Governor Ron DeSantis.
While Watts has some name recognition in the district, it will be very interesting to see if he can climb out of the “sexting” mess he was embroiled in back in 2022.
As first reported by Action News Jax, Watts had an “inappropriate relationship” with a deputy town clerk, who later threatened to sue the city for sexual harassment after she was fired from her job.
To date, Sapp has raised $337,762 while Watts has only been able to garner $26,168.50.
Florida’s primary election is August 20.
