Congress may be taking its summer recess, but that does not mean they are doing nothing. Representative Maxwell Frost (D-FL) recently announced his office has sent out 100,000 responses since beginning his term in 2023, solved 3,000 cases, and returned $3 million to Central Floridians.
Highlights noted in Rep. Frost's announcement include the securing of a second passport office in Orlando, which he achieved at the end of May. This proposal came after many of his constituents contacted him asking for assistance obtaining passports. Florida has only a single office in the entire state down in Miami, which only operates in a short window and is appointment-only, making the drive not worth it.
Additionally, Rep. Frost celebrated the $15 million in federal funds for various construction and maintenance projects in Central Florida and the Orlando area obtained at the end of July. These funds, which would go to several cities and universities, are set to bring about significant improvements and developments, fostering a sense of hope and optimism in the community.
Finally, he noted the milestone of solving 3,000 cases involving passports, Social Security, immigration, and tax issues.
Moreover, Frost's office successfully responded to 100,000 constituents' calls, emails, or physical mail requests or queries since January 2023, which he said "has played a crucial role in guiding the Congressman's legislative priorities."
"From securing a passport office in Orlando, delivering nearly $12 million in Community Project Funding, returning $3 million dollars, assisting over 3,000 constituents, and responding to over 100,000 constituents, we're delivering tangible results for Central Florida," said the Florida Congressman in his press release. He emphasized that these achievements were made possible by the active participation and support of the constituents, making them feel valued and integral to the process.
Frost threw in an additional jab at House Republican leadership, which many Democrats have mocked in the past over its apparent dysfunction, saying, "Under House Republican leadership, this has been one of the most unproductive sessions of Congress in history — but my office hasn't let any dysfunction stop us from getting work done. Our office is here to help everyday people cut through government red tape and build a better Central Florida that works for everybody."
