Donalds Calls Black Journalist Conference a 'Hostile Environment'

The National Association of Black Journalists hosted President Donald Trump (R) this afternoon as he answered questions regarding the 2024 presidential election. The president was questioned by 3 moderators, who asked him questions regarding numerous topics, including inflation, and his vice presidential choice. The conversation grew tense, but Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R) defended President Trump's NABJ appearance, calling the conference a "hostile environment."

Rep. Donalds is a staunch supporter of the former president. So much so that the Florida Republican was reportedly on the shortlist to become his vice presidential pick. In the end, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance (R) was chosen, but Rep. Donalds remains a strong supporter, and he feels that President Trump has a proven track record to make him the most effective candidate for the November election.

ABC News' Rachel Scott, Somafor's Kadia Goba, and Fox News' Harris Faulkner questioned the president during the conference, and while President Trump exchanged in heated conversations with both Scott and Goba, Rep. Donalds assures that there was reason to be on the defensive.

"Today, President Trump entered a hostile environment, highlighted his historic accomplishments, and spoke directly to the issues that matter," wrote Rep. Donalds on social media. The issues President Trump addressed are his efforts to secure the southern border, reduce inflation that has skyrocketed under the Biden-Harris Administration, and restore energy independence.

He went on to share that in order to "Make America Great Again for all Americans," they're going to have to foster "rough conversations and debate." As such, the conference was an example of that, and Rep. Donalds believed that the former president was able to defend himself and his record while in office.

"Unlike Kamala Harris, President Trump is not afraid of going into any venue, any time, anywhere, and today was no exception," Rep. Donalds concluded.

The NABJ conference was held in Chicago, which will also host the Democratic National Convention in August.
