Donalds Blasts Harris Voter Coalition: 'A Mile Wide But an Inch Deep'

Share

Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) appeared on CNN and spoke on the upcoming debate between former President Donald Trump (R) and Vice President Kamala Harris (D), as well as the latter’s policies and support she’s received since launching her campaign for the Oval Office.

The Florida congressman started by discussing VP Harris’ economic policies, including her $25,000 credit for first-time homebuyers plan.

“Now we got to be honest and direct. Kamala Harris's economic plan has been panned mostly. There's been very little praise about this plan. $25,000 for first-time homebuyers is only going to raise the price of homes on first-time homebuyers by $25,000,” said Rep. Donalds. “Her price gouging, or price control regime, however you want to phrase it, is only going to lead to scarcity amongst food products and potentially higher prices as well. So, that's not going to help. And that's not just me saying it. You have economics, economic economists on the right, in the center, in the left, who are all saying that.”

He continued by comparing the campaign styles of both President Trump and VP Harris as the former has participated in a multitude of interviews, often daily interactions with the media while Harris has hesitated to speak publicly in an interview setting since getting in the race (both she and her running mate Governor Tim Walz – D-MN, will appear in a joint sit-down with CNN on Thursday).

“But to a broader level, Donald Trump has been given interviews day in, day out. So has J.D. Vance. People know what Donald Trump is going to do because he was already president and he did it. His positions are on his website, very, very clearly, Kamala Harris has not given any specificities, let alone any vision of what she really wants to do from a public policy position,” said Rep. Donalds.

He concluded, stating the Harris-Walz campaign has consistently flip-flopped on issues, and has only retained a coalition that is only “an inch deep” nationally.

“And then you have the flip-flopping that has occurred. The pressure is on her in this debate to demonstrate. I would argue, that her support right now is a mile wide but an inch deep. The support for Donald Trump is rock solid. It is not moving. So, the pressure is on Kamala Harris to communicate to the American people. Donald Trump has been communicating to the American people for, really, nine years now. People know what Donald Trump is going to do, as the next president,” concluded Donalds.

Trump and Harris will face off in a debate on Sept. 10 on ABC.
