The citizens of Fort Walton and Crestview, Florida now have access to high-speed internet from AT&T Fiber. The company, which claims to have “America’s fastest internet with the most reliable speeds” can produce speeds up to five gigabytes for 16,000 residential and business locations in the area and support dozens of devices at once.

Gigapower – the AT&T and BlackRock joint venture – announced that they were bringing fiber internet to Okaloosa County, Fort Walton, Crestview, and Eatonville earlier this year.

“We’re excited about the arrival of AT&T Fiber in Fort Walton Beach and Crestview and for our new customers in the area to experience the unlimited possibilities it can unlock,” said Demetrus Hayes, Gulf States Vice President/General Manager, AT&T. “We’ve been rapidly expanding our fiber service as the demand heats up. Modern, high-speed connectivity is essential in today’s world, and we’re proud to bring it to this community and to keep expanding to reach more folks.”

Moreover, AT&T CEO John Stankey provided an optimistic attitude toward the joint venture earlier this year, saying that “fiber connectivity changes everything” for the market.

“We believe fiber connectivity changes everything. That’s why we’re already one of the biggest investors in fiber in the United States,” said CEO Stankey. “The demand for high-speed connectivity is unprecedented, and through this innovative partnership with BlackRock, one of the world’s foremost investors in infrastructure, we’re able to connect even more people and businesses, accelerating our efforts to help close the digital divide.”

AT&T also believes that its fiber product is the fastest on the market.

"With up to 5-Gigs of speed, AT&T Fiber is the fastest internet among major providers. Households with AT&T Fiber can enjoy consistent, high-performing broadband service, even when several devices are connected to the network at one time. AT&T Fiber will connect people choosing to work from home long-term, students needing access to internet for homework assignments, and families streaming multiple video programs and games," said the company.

AT&T announced a similar expansion in August of 2022 as it moved into Mesa, Arizona. The company’s venture with BlackRock, the infrastructure giant that ushers in significant technological capital and expertise, began in May of 2023.
