President Joe Biden’s debate performance against former President Donald Trump and Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez’s recent conviction on bribery charges have left Democrats 2024 election night aspirations spiraling out of control, as key senatorial candidates, including Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, may be hoping that the president steps aside to improve their chances of winning in November.
Sen. Menendez’s conviction will most likely cause Democratic lawmakers and candidates to distance themselves from.
But as Democrats move away from Menendez, will they return the money they have received from him over the years?
During the 2020 presidential election cycle, Menendez’s New Millenium PAC donated $2,500 to Mucarsel-Powell.
Many Democrats, including Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Mucarsel-Powell, have called on Menendez to resign his Senate seat.
Will Mucarsel-Powell, who is engaged in a tough race against Sen. Rick Scott, give the money back?
She doesn’t have to, but could return the cash anyways.
She probably should return the cash.
