Scott Launches Venezuela Coalition, Takes a Jab at 'Socialist Debbie' Mucarsel-Powell

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) recently launched the Venezuelans for Rick Scott Coalition in Miami, Florida, right in the backyard of his political opponent – former Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-FL).

Alongside piecing together support from the Venezuelan community members and business leaders from the state to support his campaign, Sen. Scott took the opportunity to take a shot at Democrats such as President Joe Biden (D) and Rep. Mucarsel-Powell while also condemning Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

“If you look at what’s going on in our country, it’s how it started in these other countries. So, we gotta think about them and we gotta think about ourselves. I think Friday is Venezuela Independence Day, so it’s appropriate to do this today,” said Sen. Scott.

With politicians such as Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) behind him, Scott continued, “Everybody up here understands socialism. And everybody understands that’s where America’s headed if we don’t stop the path we’re going down,” said the Florida senator. “Everybody knows what Maduro’s during in Venezuela is despicable. I did a resolution on the Senate floor to support María Corina Machado as the presidential candidate to oppose Maduro, and of course, the Democrats blocked it.”

Finally, Sen. Scott took a jab at Rep. Mucarsel-Powell for not coming out in support of the resolution he introduced with no support from the left side of the aisle.

“My Senate opponent has never said that was wrong by the Democrats. As a matter of fact, my Senate opponent that lives here, Socialist Debbie doesn’t say anything about Biden or all the socialism that’s happening with the Democrats around. Biden as we know has negotiated with Maduro. He’s reduced sanctions against Maduro. He’s given clemency to Alex Saab and the Narcos Nephews which we can’t believe. He’s allowed the El Tren de Aragua – the largest criminal gang to enter the United States, which is scary. What I’m trying to do right now is designate them as a transnational criminal organization, but of course, I can’t find one Democrat to support me.”

Senator Scott has served in the upper chamber since 2019. He is expected to face Mucarsel-Powell in the general election on November 5 in an attempt to defend his seat for the first time.
