On Tuesday, July 9th, President Donald Trump (R) will hold a rally in Doral. Speculation continues to fervor regarding President Trump announcing his vice presidential pick at the rally. Names like Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R), North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (R), and even Tucker Carlson have been rumored to be on a shortlist, but the list also includes another Florida native. In an advertisement celebrating July 4th, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) continues to present himself as a vp prospect.
President Trump has mostly kept quiet regarding his vice presidential prospects. The only names he's publicly acknowledged are Rep. Donalds and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R), who have both stumped for the former president.
One name that has emerged to the forefront of the vice presidential conversation is Senator Rubio, who last faced President Trump in the 2016 presidential election before dropping out and endorsing him.
In a new advertisement meant to celebrate July 4th, the Senator evokes a tone of patriotism while also affirming that he remains committed to fighting for the United States of America.
The advertisement is composed of a voice over from Senator Rubio playing over footage of U.S. stock footage and footage of protests. "Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness; these are the rights that set us apart from the rest of the world," Senator Rubio comments. "They drive us to push boundaries and fulfill impossible dreams."
Highlighting the rights that Americans have, "rights that were given by God," he warns that these same rights are in danger. Calling the United States "the birthplace of equal justice for all," Senator Rubio explains that "faith, family, and community" are crucial to the country's progression.
He goes on to note that the country "is a land where dreams of greatness can be turned into reality, and it's our job to keep things this way," and in the face of detractors, Senator Rubio affirms that the country "is something worth fighting for."
