Mills: Condemning VP Harris' Border Security Record was 'One of the Easiest Votes'

Share

Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) – alongside many other Republicans nationwide – is not stepping down from attributing the title of “Border Czar” to Vice President Kamala Harris (D) as the GOP-controlled House passed a resolution reprimanding her efforts in the position.

HR 1371, sponsored by Republican Conference Chair and Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY), confirms the belief of the lower chamber that VP Harris was in fact granted the duties of Border Czar, stating, “Whereas on March 24, 2021, President Biden asked Vice President Kamala Harris to serve as the administration’s border czar in charge of: working to address the “root causes” of illegal immigration into the United States.”

Rep. Mills said voting for the resolution was one of his easiest decisions during his first term as a congressman.

“It was one of my easiest votes to vote in favor of the resolution to condemn Border Czar Kamala Harris. Saying ‘do not come’ isn't a policy, and we saw that with border crossings at an all-time high under her watch. Not only did it take her 93 days to visit the southern border, but she has only ever been there once! The Biden Harris admin not only released ISIS-linked individuals into our country, their wide-open border is worsening a humanitarian crisis, bringing in criminals and drugs, and costing American taxpayers billions,” said Rep. Mills.

House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) also released a statement, calling her “an extremist” on the issue.

“Vice President Kamala Harris is not just a failed border czar—she is an extremist on border security and immigration enforcement, as her record as a senator, presidential candidate, and vice president makes abundantly clear,” said Chairman Green. “In March 2021, President Biden told the country that Vice President Harris was ‘the most qualified person to…lead our efforts’ in stemming the flood of illegal aliens across our Southwest border. No rational person could look at the years since, and conclude anything except that she was utterly unqualified, and has completely failed. While Democrats and their allies in the media rush to excuse Vice President Harris’ catastrophic failure to end the crisis she and President Biden created, Congress has shown with this resolution that we want the American people to know the truth.”

VP Harris is expected to receive the Democratic Party’s nomination for president during the Democratic National Convention in August.
