Former President Donald Trump is expected to make his choice for Vice President in the coming days, and the one name that stands out above the rest is that of Florida Senator Marco Rubio.
Sen. Rubio, who is on the shortlist of very capable candidates to be VP, checks off all the boxes for the job, both in English and Spanish.
After the first, and potentially the last presidential debate between President Joe Biden and President Trump, Sen. Rubio was in the debate spin room arguing the case for Trump’s candidacy, while also outlining President Biden’s cognitive decline in front of the American electorate was “painfully obvious.”
“There are millions of people watching who basically wanted to ask themselves, ‘Were we better off under Trump, or are we better off under Biden? Did I have more money in my pocket? was the world safer and more secure? Was the country safer and more secure,’ and I just think more and more Americans are concluding that they were better off in the four years Trump was president than in the 3 1/2 years of Biden was the president, and I think that's the core issue of this campaign that's going to decide it, said Sen. Rubio in a spin room interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett.
While other Trump surrogates and potential VP candidates spun for the former president on different news outlets, Rubio was the only potential running mate who was able to do it in both English and Spanish language, appearing on Univision, Telemundo, FOX, and CBS.

Rubio even went back on CNN the following morning.
Remember, President Trump is all about loyalty, and Sen. Rubio was arguably the most loyal ally President Trump had in the U.S. Senate during his first term in office.
Sen. Rubio has an unquestionable track record of loyalty to his colleagues in the Senate, his family, and friends, some of whom have run, or have held an elected office.
Rubio once told The Floridian that he was grateful for the opportunities he was given by former president and his administration to develop domestic and foreign policies.
Rubio was instrumental in helping Trump beef up his foreign policy bona fides, and in conversations and interviews with The Floridian over the past several years and during the Trump years, Rubio divulged that he had taken a broader foreign policy role with the administration.
But Rubio's legislative footprint was not solely made on foreign policy.
With the help of his daughter Ivanka, Trump signed into law one of Rubio’s legacy pieces of legislation, his child Tax Credit measure with Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) that was included in the broader American Rescue Plan during the COVID pandemic, as well as the PPP program Rubio assisted in drafting that helped save American small business during the onset of the pandemic.
In addition, Rubio’s VA reform bill was one of the bills first signed into law.
One of Rubio’s important VA measures is the “Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act,” which has seen several of its key provisions ignored by the Biden administration.
“As we conduct oversight, it is our job to ensure veterans receive the best experience possible at the VA, and we expect that the VA will put veterans first during all decisions about employee management,” said Rubio.
Rubio’s unique level of diplomacy and foreign policy bona fides, not to mention being instrumental to the Trump administration’s domestic policy during the COVID pandemic, makes him the most viable choice to be Trump's VP choice.
