Greg Folley Picks Up Another Law Enforcement Endorsement Heading into CD 81 Primary

Share

State Representative hopeful Greg Folley (R-FL) has received the endorsement of former Collier County Sheriff Don Hunter. Folley – who’s running for House District 81 – has served as a Marco Island City Councilman since 2020 and held the position of Chairman in 2022 and 2023.

In the endorsement, former Sheriff Hunter stated that Folley has backed the police in more ways than one.

“Greg Folley is conservative, tough-on-crime, and pro-law enforcement,” said Sheriff Hunter. “He knows that well-supported agencies and officers are essential to maintaining law and order and keeping our streets and neighborhoods safe. On the Marco Island City Council, he has fought to increase pay for police officers and first responders and ensure they have the support they need to do their sworn duty. Greg will continue to do the same in the Florida Legislature, and I’m honored to offer him my wholehearted endorsement in the race for House District 81.”

Moreover, Folley graciously accepted the endorsement, saying that law enforcement needs public support “now more than ever,” including issues surrounding the border crisis.

“Thank you to Sheriff Don Hunter for endorsing me in this race for State Representative,” said Greg Folley. “I’ve always been a strong supporter of our Florida police force and want to ensure they have the tools and legal support they need to protect our communities. Now more than ever, they must have our unwavering support as we combat the illegal immigration crisis resulting from the White House’s failed border policies. In the legislature, I promise to get right to work for all the brave men and women of our law enforcement and first responder community.”

Folley has received endorsements from groups such as the Florida Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Nurses Association. He’s also received the nod from influential Floridians like Florida CFO Jimmy Patronis, Former Naples Mayor Bill Barnett, and retired Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor.

According to Ballotpedia, Folley will have to beat out Yvette Benarroch on August 20 for the Republican nomination. Should he do so, he will face Democrat Charles Work in the general election on November 5.
