Florida’s Republican political class rallied around former President Donald Trump during a major campaign event in Doral, Florida.
Lawmakers attending included Senators Rick Scott (R-FL) and Marco Rubio(R-FL) and Representatives Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) and Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL).
Each legislator outlined their reasons for supporting President Trump while criticizing President Joe Biden’s presidential performance.
Senator Scott claimed voting for Trump would secure American safety, freedom, and prosperity.
“We are going to vote for a secure border, vote for a strong lethal military, low inflation, allies that respect us, enemies that fear us,” said Scott. “If we vote for Donald Trump, all of those things are going to happen.”
Meanwhile, Representative Gimenez urged rally attendees to turn out en masse in the November elections.
“We need to vote for Donald J Trump for President of the United States,” declared Gimenez. “He will turn this country around, he will set us in the right direction, he will set the tone for the next twenty to thirty years.”
Senator Rubio echoed similar sentiment while also countering recent attacks against Trump.
”These guys on TV saying, 'If Trump becomes president, he's going to become a dictator, and he's going to go after his opponents,”sneered Rubio. "This is from the people who are going after their opponents and putting their political opponents in jail!”
Rubio is allegedly one of Trump’s priority choices for his Vice Presidential nomination.
Political insiders are predicting Trump will select Rubio as his VP for the November 2024 elections, with the latter’s solid Hispanic voter approval being a driving force supporting his nomination.
Various polls have repeatedly demonstrated Rubio’s supremacy over Democrats vis-a-vis hispanic voters, who support the former’s policies on immigration and the economy.
