Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) could be well on his way to another term in the Senate, but Democrats are determined to highlight the threat they feel he poses. This week, the former governor of Florida spoke at the Republican National Convention, highlighting his support for President Donald Trump (R). Florida Democrats however question Senator Scott's commitment to Florida, warning that he'll be "a disaster for women."
Senator Scott delivered some remarks this week at the Republican National Convention, but he's generated some criticism as Florida Democrats argue that he's missing important duties in the sunshine state. In a statement, Nikki Fried (D), the chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Florida, warned that Senator Scott's "vision for our country would be a disaster for women and working families." "Florida Democrats will spend every day between now and November holding Rick Scott accountable to defend the Senate."
On social media, Florida Democrats continued to take issue with the Florida Senator, sharing a report on Scott's speech at the RNC and noting that "Rick Scott missed NINE votes and FOUR committee hearings at the Senate last week, but showed up to give a speech at the Republican National Convention. He will never miss an opportunity to boost himself."
Former Florida Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D) is challenger Senator Scott after being voted out of office in 2021. Rep. Mucarsel-Powell's candidacy is considered a long shot, but the Florida Democrat maintains that she has the experience to oust Senator Scott.
"The Democrats couldn't stop him. The media couldn't stop him. The liberal judges couldn't stop him. A bullet from a mad man couldn't stop him. Can anything stop Donald Trump from becoming the next president and making America great again?" the Florida Senator asked at the convention before discussing his friendship and support for President Trump.
