EXCLUSIVE: Wasserman Schultz Predicts VP Harris Will Defeat Trump in 'Close Race'

Share

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) spoke to The Floridian to discuss Vice President Kamala Harris’ (D) chances in the upcoming 2024 presidential election against former President Donald Trump (R) in November. Her response was incredibly optimistic as she listed Vice President Harris'  track record during her time in public service.

“First of all, she's an incredibly accomplished individual. Elected district attorney with a stellar prosecution record, which then she went on to be elected Attorney General of the largest state in the country, ran the largest public law firm law firm in the country, and along the way –  especially when she was this district attorney – created the largest prison reform program in which it had the lowest recidivism rate in the country. So, she has a track record of management and law and order and public safety that is unmatched,” said Rep. Wasserman Schultz.

Wasserman Schultz compared Harris with former President Trump, saying that Harris put "bad guys in prison" while saying that President Trump should himself be imprisoned.

President Donald Trump

“On top of that as a candidate, besides the fact that she's been an incredible Vice President, as a candidate for president, where we've got on the Democratic side, we have a presidential candidate who put bad guys in prison, held corporate cheaters accountable against a 34 count felon who's an adjudicated rapist who should be in prison who was a corporate cheater. That's a pretty clear and important contrast that the American people – it's not going to be a close call," she added

Furthermore, Rep. Wasserman Schultz believes the race will be close, but VP Harris will reach 270 electoral votes in the end, citing her initial success in fundraising that has seen more than $100 million in donations since President Joe Biden’s (D) departure from the race.

“I think it's going to be a close race anyway, and it will still be a close race, but I think she'll win. The excitement that she has generated since President Biden indicated that he was supporting her and she announced that she was going to seek the nomination, the excitement has been off the charts," continued Wasserman Schultz. " I mean, the largest single-day low-dollar fundraising in a 24-hour period in history, the explosive follow-up effort that has come in from volunteers. This is the historic opportunity that we have to elect the first woman, the first African American woman, the first South Asian woman. The big quarters of communities that she will rally and is rallying already is remarkable.”

Wasserman Schultz, who represents Florida’s 25th Congressional District, also recently said that the Harris presidential campaign is making plans for Florida.
