Congressional Pressure Grows for Investigation Into Attempted Trump Assassination

US lawmakers are calling for full congressional investigations into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

As reported by The Floridian’s Javier Manjarres, President Trump was shot in the right ear during Saturday's rally.

The shot came from the right side of the stage, and Secret Service whisked away the former president.

Trump pumped his fist to the crowd as he was pushed into the waiting SUV.

After being reviewed by medical professionals in a nearby hospital, Trump traveled to New Jersey and is now expected to attend the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Following bipartisan condemnation of the attack on Trump, conservatives are demanding full congressional investigations into the security lapses permitting for the crisis to unfold.

At least one witness is alleging he warned Secret Service personnel of the threat posed by Trump’s attacker, Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Greg Smith, a rally attendee, claims he warned law enforcement after he spotted Crooks positioning himself to shoot at Trump.

“We're pointing at him, the police are down there running around on the ground, we're like 'Hey man, there's a guy on the roof with a rifle'... and the police did not know what was going on," said Smith.

US Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) was outraged by the security failures permitting Crooks to have a direct line of sight to strike at Trump.

“Absolutely inexcusable that the deranged would-be assassin had a direct line of sight to the former president and the leading candidate for President of the United States,” said Senator Scott.

Scott subsequently requested an investigation by the US Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs (HSGAC) for accountability and transparency purposes.

Scott expounded that the government has “an oversight responsibility and an obligation to the American people to demand answers from DHS and the U.S. Secret Service.”

Similarly, US Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) is requesting an investigation by the HSGAC and sent a letter to its chairman stating the same.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has also claimed he will direct the House to conduct an extensive investigation into the assassination attempt.

Any information sprouting from the upcoming investigations will reveal why the Secret Service and local law enforcement were unable to prevent Crooks from executing his attempted murder.
