'Weakness' and 'Confusion': DeSantis Blames Biden's Mental State, Policies, for Russian Ships in Cuba

HOLLYWOOD, FL—While discussing Russian warships hovering off the Cuban coast, Governor Ron DeSantis blasted President Joe Biden's foreign policy "weakness" and alleged personal "confusion" Friday morning—insisting that strength is the only way to keep the Russians at bay.

"Under this administration, they've put out a posture of weakness that's invited more aggressive actions from our adversaries," DeSantis said Friday morning at a Hollywood press conference. "The amount of activity among hostile nations in our own hemisphere is probably at a level that we have not seen in many many years."

Russian warships conducting military exercises in the Caribbean arrived in Cuba Wednesday for the first time in four years, though the Pentagon does not consider them to be a threat, USA Today reported. They are, however, continuing to monitor the ships' movements.

One U.S. Northern Command official said Russian ships used to sail in the Caribbean from 2013 to 2020 in a routine naval capacity, though this hasn't assuaged fears of authoritarian natives floating just 90 miles from the U.S., especially considering America has supplied Ukraine with weapons and aid in their war against invading Russians.

DeSantis, meanwhile, blames Biden for Russia's seemingly brazen visit to communist Cuba—which happens to host a Chinese spy base on its mainland.

"History has shown that these bad actors...respond to strength and they're deterred by strength," DeSantis said, arguing that more Western nations are aligned with communist or authoritarian ideologies than democratic ones.

He turned to Biden, swiping at the President appearing to "wander away" during the G7 summit in Italy, saying, "They are not deterred by weakness, they are not deterred by confusion, they are not deterred by a president wandering around aimlessly at the G7."
