Waltz Mocks Biden's, Europe's Fears of Trump Returning to White House

Share

President Biden's final day at the G7 conference in Italy was heavily overshadowed by the potential for former President Donald Trump to return to the White House should he win the 2024 Election in November. Representative Mike Waltz (R-FL) discussed the fear of European leaders at that prospect in a recent appearance on Fox News, saying, "The gravy train is going to be over come this November."

Rep. Waltz was referring to the lack of commitment from European countries such as Spain, France, and Germany to spending 2% of their GDP on defense as NATO allies, a commitment Trump has said he would force these countries to live up to should he return to office.

"President Trump has rightly been very clear that having only 11 of 31 NATO nations meet the bare minimum of their 2% defense commitment is completely unacceptable, and the gravy train is going to be over come this November," said Rep. Waltz, adding that the United States' subsidizing of Europe's defense is unaffordable at a time "when the interest on our national debt is greater than our entire defense budget."

The host then played a clip featuring comments from Representative Jim Himes (D-CT) earlier, where he claimed "NATO is stronger than ever before" as the Russian invasion of Ukraine stalls and Hamas faces destruction.

Waltz's response was pessimistic, saying he had "a lot of respect for Representative Himes in his ability to put lipstick on a pig."

"But the fact is," the Florida Congressman continued, "the war should have never happened in Ukraine. Deterrence failed. Biden practically invited Russia to do it with demonstration after demonstration of weakness, from Nordstream II to a summit after they hacked our largest pipeline, the Colonial pipeline in the United States."

Moreover, he chided Rep. Himes for leaving out the failure of Biden's policy with Iran "that has allowed them to now be flush with cash and to be emboldened to support groups like Hamas and Hezbollah as they attack Israel."

"And we have not even started talking about China," Waltz added, "which is tripling its nuclear arsenal, launching more into space than the rest of the world combined, and now has a larger navy than the United States and growing."

Thus, he concluded that Trump must return to the White House, as America's enemies fear his return more than Europe.
