US, Israel, and Allies Fail to Prevent Houthi Strikes on Four Ships

Share

The Houthis, an Iranian-backed terrorist group operating out of Yemen, reportedly recently struck four different merchant vessels in the Red Sea.

The US, United Kingdom, Israel, and other allied nations have been attempting to deflect Houthi attacks, which often come in the form uncrewed aerial system (drone) strikes.

Almost daily, Houthi forces have executed drone attacks against ships believed to have direct or indirect links to the US, Israel, or any of their allies.

Last week, Houthi strikes sunk an entire container ship, killing one of its crew-members.

In their latest attacks, the Houthis managed to allegedly strike four different ships in the Red Sea.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed one such attack on the M/V TRANS WORLD NAVIGATOR, a Liberian-flagged, Greek-owned and operated bulk cargo carrier.

CENTCOM reported the ship was damaged while crew members reported minor injuries.

NAVIGATOR was en route to Egypt from Malaysia and had been previously subject to three similar attacks.

A few days earlier, CENTCOM reported they had taken offensive action to destroy several Houthi drones in overflying the Red Sea.

The Houthis argue their military offensive is a legitimate response to Israel’s own military incursions into Gaza following Hamas’ October 7th attacks.

CENTCOM rejected such justification, arguing the Houthis are causing more harm than good.

“The Houthis claim to be acting on behalf of Palestinians in Gaza, and yet they threaten and have taken the lives of innocent civilians who have nothing to do with the conflict in Gaza,” read CENTCOM’s statement. “CENTCOM will continue to act with partners to hold the Houthis accountable and degrade their military capabilities.”

CENTCOM’s words come as aircraft carrier USS Dwight D Eisenhower is set to return to the US after overseeing CENTCOM’s Red Sea operations.
