Salazar Confronts SBA Over Alleged Push to Register Democrat Voters in Michigan

Share

US Representative Maria Elvira-Salazar (R-FL) is claiming the US Small Business Administration (SBA) has created initiatives to register voters in the swing state of Michigan.

Representative Salazar questioned witnesses on the matter during a Committee on Small Business hearing.

“The evidence is pointing to the Biden Administration using taxpayer money illegally to increase their chances of winning reelection,” said Salazar. “How will the American people know if the SBA will truly remain nonpartisan when they are registering voters?”

The Small Business Committee recently publicized an agreement between the SBA and Michigan’s Department of State to increase voter registration in Michigan.

The agreement entails designating SBA as a voter registration agency under the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).

Additionally, the SBA will create a Michigan NVRA coordinator to manage Michigan’s voter registration services. SBA employees will in turn receive voter registration training from Michigan State officials.

The Small Business Committee also released maps demonstrating SBA’s latest ‘outreach’ events occurred in counties with the highest population of Democratic National Committee (DNC) target demographics.

Michigan Department of State officials can conduct in-person voter registration at such events.

The maps also demonstrate the counties most frequented by SBA officials for events were not those with the most small businesses.

Furthermore, Salazar alleged SBA officials invited Democrats to SBA events much more frequently than Republicans

According to Salazar, SBA press releases reveal SBA members traveled to Michigan and invited Democratic Members of Congress nearly 8 times more frequently than Republican Members.

SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman defended the agency’s Michigan agreement, claiming it bolsters the state’s economy.

“Protecting and strengthening our democracy is critical to our economic success and a core goal of the Biden-Harris Administration,” said Administrator Guzman. “Through this memorandum of understanding, the SBA will help connect Michiganders to vital voter registration information from the State of Michigan so that more small business owners can exercise their right to vote.”
