Next Steps for Trump Campaign After Verdict?

Share

On May 30th, former President Trump was found guilty of 34 felonies. His sentencing date is July 11th at 10 a.m. at the Manhattan Supreme Court, just days before he is formally confirmed as the party’s presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention. Trump is the first President to be convicted of felonies. His sentence could include fines, restitution, and probation. The sentencing could lead to a possible prison sentence. In the meantime, Trump will be allowed to speak to the press and travel for his presidential campaign.

Trump called the trial “a sham” and a “disgrace”.

A day after the guilty verdict came down, Florida Senator Marco Rubio may have prognosticated  the result of the November presidential election, telling Fox News Host Steve Deucy, "‘I think they elected the president last night."

Unsurprisingly, Trump has not taken the verdict lying down. His legal team has already begun preparing appeals and objections to the charges and rulings of the trial. Trump himself has accused the judge of being ‘conflicted', Stating, “There’s never been a more conflicted judge.” He continues to maintain that the case is nothing more than a politically motivated witch hunt.

The conviction will not stop Trump from continuing his campaign or becoming President. Laura Trump, Trump’s daughter-in-law, said he would hold virtual rallies and campaign events. The guilty verdict has only helped unify the Republican Party. Within 24 hours of the verdict, his campaign made history by fundraising $52.8 million. Although Trump has been found guilty, his poll numbers are still higher than Biden's.

The former president will attend the Club 45 monthly meeting on June 6 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Expect a huge turnout.
