Eight suspected terrorists with potential ISIS ties were reportedly arrested last week in different American cities after crossing the U.S. border with Mexico
All eight arrestees had entered the US through the southern border, and at least one of them reportedly did so via the CBP One app, created by the Biden administration to streamline border crossings.
According to NBC news, all eight individuals had been on the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.
The arrests follow months of Republican warnings foreshadowing President Joe Biden’s border policies would allow terrorist operatives to surreptitiously slip into the US.
Nearly two dozen Senators have penned a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas demanding answers on the porous border.
The Senators cite the recent ISIS arrests as the main animus for the letter, but also refer to numerous other concerning border crossing statistics.
Among these are releases of aliens potentially belonging to Afghani, Somalian, and Uzbekistani terrorist groups into the US.
Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) joined the letter and publicly ridiculed President Biden’s border policies as “a gimmick.”
Biden recently signed two executive orders his administration claims will secure the border and keep families together.
Regarding the border, Biden’s executive order bars illegal migrants from receiving asylum and revokes visas of CEOs and public officials profiting from illegal immigrants, among other measures.
Various immigrants’ rights groups have already filed lawsuits against the executive orders, claiming they are illegal.
The second executive order will exempt illegal immigrants who are children of, or married to, US citizens from having to depart the US in order to receive legal permanent residency.
Such a measure is estimated to impact 50,000 underage illegal immigrants.
Additionally, the executive order will strengthen DACA by easing college-graduate DACA recipients’ ability to receive work permits.
