Cammack Claims Biden's Executive Border Action Made Crisis 'Worse'

Share

Earlier in June, President Biden issued an executive order taking action to limit border crossings. Barely two weeks later, Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) claimed in a recent appearance on Fox News's Faulkner Focus that the crisis has only worsened according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents "because now everybody is rushing to the border."

Host Harris Faulkner noted that, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, 2,728 migrants were released into the country in the week since Biden issued the executive order. In other words, very little has changed.

Rep. Cammack said it "made her blood boil," thrashing the Biden Administration for undoing all of former President Donald Trump's executive policies for the border and the ensuing consequences.

"When you look at what this administration has done in the span of four years to undo, not just the Trump executive orders and all of our border security initiatives to keep this country safe and really uphold legal immigration, they are destroying communities all around this country as a result," said the Florida Congresswoman.

Additionally, Rep. Cammack claimed to have spoken with Border Patrol agents, who told her that Biden's executive action "was really just designed to get top cover for political reasons."

"You know what they told me? They said it has gotten worse. Biden's executive order made the situation at the border worse. Why? Because now everyone is rushing to the border because they feel that they are going to be kept out, so it is putting more of a burden on those states like New Mexico, Arizona, [and] California," Cammack continued, praising Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) for his actions to contain the crisis in his state.

Moreover, she pointed at Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, claiming that under his leadership, "we have no buses, the planes that we would need to deport and get people back to their home countries are no longer there, the manpower, the resources; they have taken more beds out of ICE's control, so you have a situation where they have no way to actually enforce this EO, they have made it worse. It all goes back to them trying to give top cover for electoral purposes. But as a result, Americans are dying, and communities are less safe."
