The pier built by the Biden Administration to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza as Israel besieges Rafah collapsed, halting further operations. Representative Mike Waltz (R-FL) ripped the pier recently on Fox Business's Varney & Co., calling it "kind of a metaphor for this administration's Middle East policy."
Additionally, Rep. Waltz said he spoke with officers about conditions surrounding the eastern Mediterranean, who "repeatedly briefed that this thing would not be able to last long."
Moreover, he noted that out of the sixteen trucks of humanitarian aid that reached land, "eleven of the sixteen were looted. The other five finally made it to the [United Nations] warehouse, and they are going to face the same distribution problems."
The Washington Stand reported on the looting of the trucks, noting that gunfire erupted as Palestinians swarmed the vehicles. However, the Stand suggested it was more likely that Hamas had intercepted and looted the trucks for themselves, using the crowds of hungry civilians as a distraction.
In March, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) suggested this would happen, as Hamas has also built an extensive tunnel network throughout Gaza using aid money while leaving Palestinians destitute.
"How does Hamas get food? Hamas does not have an economy. Everything Hamas gets comes from abroad, from Iranians, and from what they take. The evidence is in place that they have existed as an organization without any means of generating revenue other than what they are able to capture. That's just common sense," Sen. Rubio noted at the time.
With the pier now sunk, Rep. Waltz condemned the Biden Administration for this failure.
"To put our soldiers in harm's way, to waste over $300 million that is desperately needed, all to virtue signal to the progressive base is shameful, and the President should be called out for it at every turn. Everybody with any military sense knew that this was not going to make a dent; this was only done so that he could have something to say at the State of the Union and placate the progressives," Waltz concluded.
